b. Porto, Portugal, lives and works in London.

Anita Marante (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist working across moving image, text, and performance. Her work has revolved around the memory of space, the contradiction of normative systems and power relations. Recurring to personal and fictional narratives, she searches through the inadequacy of language the potential to open gaps and renegotiate meaning, narrative, and truth. Her work has been shown in the UK and internationally, including the Netherlands (DOOResidency, Amsterdam), Portugal (Festival Colinas, Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa, CCOP), the United States of America, and the Czech Republic. Her writing has been published in Psí Víno, The Pluralist, Mercurial Mist, Papaya, Reaching for the Horizon, and Dose Magazine. She is a co-founder of the writing collective Waste Authority, along with the artists Kevin Siwoff and Patrick O’Neill. She holds an MA in Contemporary Art Practice from the Royal College of Art.
